Jan Kienappel

Jan Kienappel is Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of AEG Germany. AEG’s German portfolio includes the Uber Arena and Uber Eats Music Hall in Berlin, Uber Platz in Berlin, Barclays Arena in Hamburg and the 11-time German ice hockey champions Eisbären Berlin.

As COO & CFO of AEG Germany, Jan oversees AEG’s German activities and the company’s finance function across all German businesses, including financial planning and reporting, treasury, tax and compliance, controlling and governance. He also serves as Managing Director for AEG Development GmbH and six other German legal entities, driving disciplined decision-making and execution across the portfolio.

In his capacity as COO & CFO, Jan has overseen budgets, investment decisions and financial governance for AEG’s major German developments, including the construction of the Uber Arena and the development of the Uber Platz, as well as the 2007 acquisition of Barclays Arena in Hamburg.

Over the course of his tenure, Jan has played a key role in negotiating and executing project and corporate financings. His remit has also included leading and supporting due diligence workstreams for transactions and strategic projects like the partnership with German Promotor MCT, ensuring robust financial, tax and legal assessment and disciplined risk management. Jan is also a board member of Eisbären Berlin and has served on the DEL Committee RWK. 

Jan has been with AEG since 2001, joining as Financial Controller of EHC Eisbären Management GmbH. He became Group Financial Controller AEG Berlin in 2003, Financial Director AEG Germany in 2006 and Chief Financial Officer in 2008, and since December 2010 has served as CFO Germany and Managing Director for AEG Development GmbH and other German AEG legal entities. 

Prior to joining AEG, he worked at Ernst & Young AG from 1995 to 2001, qualifying as a Certified Tax Advisor and Certified Public Accountant. 

Jan is a proud father of two adult daughters and, in his spare time, enjoys running, yoga and loves to see his favourite artists from the Uber Eats Music Hall balcony.
